The Explore Scientific ED102-FCD100 Series Air-Spaced Triplet Telescope in Carbon Fiber is a high-quality instrument that offers astrophotographers and visual astronomers the advantages found in our metal-tube ED102 models, with the added benefit of being much lighter in weight. This lighter telescope performs better on any mount it is used on.

The telescope features genuine HOYA FCD100 ED glass, which is very similar in characteristics to OHARA's FPL-53. Through technological innovation, Explore Scientific has successfully launched the mass production of high-performance optical glass at the apex of the FCD family. Combining this glass with a high refractive index allows for unprecedented advanced chromatic aberration correction.

Boasting a true diffraction-limited optical design and a size that encourages spontaneous stargazing sessions, this telescope is a perfect grab-and-go instrument for exploring the skies. The air-spaced triplet optical design virtually eliminates chromatic aberrations, generating brilliant high-contrast images by combining the genuine HOYA FCD100 extra-low dispersion (ED) glass and proprietary EMD enhanced multi-layer coatings on all optical surfaces.

The telescope includes a 2.5" Hexagonal focuser with a very rigid design and strong support, allowing up to 10 lbs of gear to be loaded onto it. Additional features include a 714mm focal length, a focal ratio of f/7, a 45mm wide dovetail plate with cone-angle adjustments (Vixen-style), a cradle ring with a handle, and a Explore Scientific 2N1 Finder Scope Base installed on the scope. The entire package weighs 9.3 lbs with the cradle (excluding the case and finder scope).
